Poetics

My design work often tries to find a poetic language but even though what does poetic mean in the context of visual design?

Is a poetic approach a naive approach? Is it connected with a romantic intention? Or does it simply refer to our feelings as it comprises a more descriptive and therefore emotional language?

Project: Visual poetry booklet
By: Stephanie Müller
Year: 2018

How can I create a new perspective on poetry? How can the content of one specific poem be transferred into a more contemporary design style? Are poems out of fashion or do we just need a different access today?

The aim was to tell a narrative story about the poem itself through graphic design arrangments across several pages. The new magazine reminds in size and chosen typeface of the origin from 1974. 33 images in a PCX image format were manipulated through editing the code with the hex-editor.
