Philosophy

For me, design is a way of perceiving the world, encoding it.

Insights from philosophy, sciences and art play an important role in the process of transforming information into a visual artwork that, best case, still links to its source.

Project: Black hole poster serie

The approach was to work with light, to record light. The telescopes in astrophysics usually output black and white or grayscale images, because the light is measured at different wavelengths, afterwards, these images are coloured.

I created a variety of graphics based on scans of light, which suppose to represent certain features of the black hole. The posters are dominated by the selected images, the writing is pushed back and appears fragmentary. It is meant to underline how little we know about black holes and that our existence is at the edge of the universe.
